This is the ninth year of our WOMEN'S CONCERT SERIES. Concerts are FREE to guests. We started with a couple of concerts in 1999, and initiated the "series" in 2000. Since then, the series has more than quadrupled in size! In 2008, we have more than 30 different performers appearing throughout the year!

And this year, we're repeating two weekend events: our third BRIDGE WEEKEND in April and second annual SINGLES WEEKEND in June.

2008 Events & Packages

A WINTER WONDERLAND

The Highlands Inn is located in one of the best ski areas in the country. Two major ski resorts are within 15 minutes of the Inn - Bretton Woods and Cannon Mountain. Four others are within 40 minutes. Discounted lift tickets and cross-country passes are available at the Inn. They'll guarantee your admission with no waiting in ticket lines!

The ski resorts offer snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowtubing, and snowshoeing in addition to alpine skiing. Ice skating and sleigh rides are also available. The facilities open as early as mid-November and usually stay open through mid-April for some super spring skiing! They discount their rates midweek, so come then if you can.

If you're not up for downhill, 15 miles of trails provide excellent cross-country skiing and snowshoeing right on our property. We offer complimentary use of snowshoes. And snowmobilers are welcome! The Inn is surrounded by some of the best snowmobile trails in New England. You can ride these trails all the way to Canada. Rentals are available locally.

You can even go dog sledding in the White Mountain National Forest or on private trails. One- and two-hour trips are available within minutes of the Inn. These "adventure tours" are both fun and educational!

READINGS BY PAM AVERY WITHAM - January 11-13

Are you wondering what this year has in store for you? Medium Pam Avery Witham will tap in and bring forth guidance from the Divine, passed loved ones, angels and spirit guides. She will be doing Group, Gallery-style, Psychic/Medium readings. The Gallery Readings are a safe, fun way to tap in to messages from the DIVINE, Passed Loved Ones, and Spirit Guides. Private Readings are available by appointment throughout the weekend. Fees are: 1/2 hour $40, 1 hour $70 and the gallery style is $25/person.

Pam Avery Witham has been studying metaphysics for over 20 years. She is ordained as a Minister of Spiritual Healing and Prophecy, and has studied and practices a variety of healing modalities such as Swedish Massage, Rieki, and Breath work. Pam brings her knowledge of astrology and numerology to all her work. Ritual is a rich part of what she offers: performing commitment ceremonies/weddings, christenings, house blessings, and rights of passage of all kinds.

OUR MOUNTAIN SPRINGTIME
Most warm-weather sports and activities are readily available within minutes of The Highlands Inn, and facilities start to open up in the spring. Golf is very popular with our guests. We have two Donald Ross golf courses in Bethlehem alone! Discounts at several area golf courses are available at the Inn.

The White Mountains also offer some of the best and most varied hiking and biking in the country. There are short hikes that can take you to a waterfall or a spectacular view, as well as more strenuous hikes to scenic outlooks and mountain summits. And whether you prefer on-road or off-road biking, you'll find miles of roads and trails. Other popular sports include tennis, canoeing, fishing, rafting, and horseback riding ... and spring is a great time for moose-watching!

Our heated pool opens in early May, and you'll find 15 miles of walking/mountain biking trails right on the property. Or take the Cog Railway to the summit of Mount Washington or a leisurely train ride through a scenic mountain pass. We also have a historic movie house, the Colonial Theatre, right in Bethlehem. THE HIGHLANDS INN 25TH BIRTHDAY BASH!! - May 9-11

Join us for a weekend of celebration with old and new friends! We couldn't have done it without you! We'll have a catered dinner on Saturday night followed by champagne and dancing with a LIVE band, "Truth or Dare"! $50 per person for the dinner and birthday party.

Truth or Dare is an all female, fun-loving rock and roll cover band from Rhode Island. Their material includes a wide variety of upbeat classic and modern music, ranging from Nancy Sinatra to Nickelback. Truth or Dare appears regularly at popular RI women's nightspots.

GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME
The White Mountains Association boasts "Summer was invented here." Visit us and we think you'll agree! In our area, summer is officially ushered in by the 3-week "Fields of Lupine Festival" sponsored by Bethlehem and other surrounding towns.

For starters, the Inn opens its 54-foot heated pool in early May. Lounge by the pool, relax in the outdoor spa, hike on our trails, cook out on the poolside grill - or get out and explore the beautiful mountains that surround us. All of the area's outdoor sports and activities are in full swing - golf, tennis, hiking, biking, horseback riding, canoeing, and fishing. Antiquing, two wonderful summer theaters, and music ranging from free summer bandstand concerts to world class chamber music all help to make the Inn the perfect summer getaway!

FIELDS OF LUPINE FESTIVAL - June

The Fields of Lupine Festival is an annual event celebrating the blossoming of the lupines in New Fields of lupine near The Highlands Inn Hampshire's north country. Nowhere else does this beautiful wildflower figure so prominently in the landscape and the ethos of the region.

Early June sees roadsides and fields carpeted with this unique New Hampshire wildflower. You will enjoy views that are serene and awe inspiring at once. The communities of Bethlehem, Easton, Franconia, Sugar Hill, Twin Mountain, and Bretton Woods all join together to celebrate the coming of the lupines and to showcase the region. Every year they put together a host of great events around the flowering: garden tours, historic inn tours, concerts, sidewalk sales, and art exhibits.

17th NORTH COUNTRY MOOSE FESTIVAL - August 22-24

Enjoy the fun, funky and fabulous North Country Moose Festival. Friday’s activities usually include moose mud pond fun and games, an art show, quilt show, street fair, chicken barbecue, classic car parade, and guided moose tour. Saturday’s entertainment includes a Moose Country Fair, photography contest, historical horse & wagon tours, moose stew cook-off, and moose calling contest. AWESOME AUTUMN
Northern New Hampshire's fall foliage is world famous and deservedly so. Only two places in the world enjoy such brilliant autumn colors - the White Mountains and an area in Japan. The Highlands Inn is located right in the heart of this fabulous foliage country. With so many spectacular hikes and drives nearby, the Inn is ideally situated for leaf-peeping. Fall is also an excellent season for moose-watching!

Fall festivals, the Littleton Art Show at the end of September, a gorgeous drive down the Kancamagus Highway - there's so much to enjoy during this time of year. We welcome visitors who come from all over the world to appreciate nature's incredible show.

MURDER MYSTERY WEEKEND - October 31-November 2
Our 17th Annual! Guests assume the roles of suspects, even victims, and everyone plays detective in a mystery written especially for us by "Murder Without Pain." $45 per person, plus room, includes dinner.

THANKSGIVING - November 26-30
Delicious aromas start to fill the air by midday and you know a special feast is in store. Turkey with homemade stuffing, the creamiest mashed potatoes ever, sweet potatoes, winter squash, and Grace's cranberry relish keep guests coming back. Leave room for dessert because we'll have at least five. Enjoy the Inn's hospitality at its best when old and new friends gather for this special holiday. $45 per person includes 2 wonderful meals - our traditional Thanksgiving feast, plus savory turkey soup, casseroles, and desserts on Friday!

WORK WEEKEND - To be announced

Annual clearing of the ski trails and wood stacking. Lodging and food free for your labor. You must bring your own tools - chainsaws, brush cutters, and/or loppers.

WINTER EVENTS AND HOLIDAYS
There's so much to do in our "Winter Wonderland"! In addition to excellent skiing and other winter sports in the immediate area, the Inn has two large spas for the enjoyment of our guests. Both are complimentary and open year round. The private indoor spa is located in the Main Inn, in a room just off the breakfast room. To reserve the time that you want, all you need to do is sign up on a sheet that's posted on the door to the spa.

Just steps from the Main Inn, our outdoor spa is also open year round. Many guests enjoy luxuriating in the spa under the stars, while others prefer a relaxing afternoon dip, surrounded by snow-covered fields!

Other amenities of special interest to wintertime guests include the gay/lesbian video collection and our spacious fireplaced library and living room.

The living room is always a popular gathering spot, but especially in winter months. As one guest wrote:

CHRISTMAS

Spend a relaxing holiday with us! Enjoy a white Christmas in the country, with lots of holiday cheer, eggnog, and caroling. We have three rooms with cozy fireplaces as well as our great old stone fireplace in the living room/library. Plus indoor and outdoor spas, complimentary snowshoes, discounts at the local ski resorts, and miles of cross country trails right on our property! FYI ... several of our local restaurants serve fabulous dinners on Christmas Day (reservations recommended).

NEW YEARS 2009
Bring in the New Year with a great dinner followed by a fabulous party with DJs and champagne. Festivities begin with pre-dinner hors d'oeuvres served in our fireplaced living room. Dinner features succulent prime rib (alternative available for non-meat eaters), lots of veggies, and a fantastic selection of homemade desserts. Then we party! There is no better place to dance the night away and ring in the New Year! Four-night minimum. Packages are $740-$1,180 per couple.

ROMANCE PACKAGES

The Highlands Inn is the perfect place for your romantic getaway! Our Special Package includes your room with private bath, a country breakfast every morning, and a basket filled with champagne, chocolates, and other goodies. Our Deluxe Package includes all this and more. You'll get a special souvenir and a fresh floral arrangement to welcome you, and you can even have breakfast in your room one morning! (Breakfast in room not available in Farmhouse.)

Two-night Special Packages start at just $260 per couple for a standard double bed room; two-night Deluxe Packages start at $305 for a double bed room. Rates are higher for rooms with a queen or king-size bed. Longer stays are available for both packages.
